Doctor Gregory Hargenrater, DVM

Doctor Gregory Hargenrater grew up in South Bay, Los Angeles and attended University of Southern California, earning Bachelor of Sciences in Chemistry and Biology. He completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at University of California, Davis in 2003. In the Veterinary world, Dr. H has a plethora of experience in urgent care and trauma care, working for many years as an emergency Veterinarian in Los Angeles. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his amazing wife, Ashlie, hiking with their two dogs, Miko (an 11 year old female German Shepherd) and Harlee (a 10 year old female Jack Russell Terrier mix), as well as hanging around with Sophie when she isn’t under the bed (their 16 year old female kitty). The Hargenraters enjoy snowboarding in winter, paddle-boarding in summer, and cheering for their favorite NFL teams, the Miami Dolphins (Greg) and the New England Patriots (Ashlie).

Doctor Kristin Haitz, DVM

Doctor Kristin Haitz is from Sacramento, CA, where she grew up and had the opportunity to engage her early interest in animals by studying abroad in Germany with Doctor Jane Goodall. She went to University of California, Davis to complete her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include sports medicine and rehabilitation, Oncology, and Dermatology. When she isn’t treating dogs and cats in the clinic, Dr. Haitz can be found with her partner Austin backcountry snowboarding, hiking, camping, skijoring (pulled on skis by Flo, see below), traveling (she is an annual visitor of the Iditarod!), and spending time with family. Many of her and Austin’s adventures include Flo, a 5 year old yellow Labrador Golden mix who is also an AKC good citizen and frequently visits retirement communities.

Doctor Brian Buckton, DVM

Doctor Brian Buckton was born and raised in Porterville, CA. He graduated in 1997 from University of California, San Diego with a degree in Animal Physiology and Neuro-science. Dr. Buckton received his Veterinary Doctorate from University of California, Davis in 2001 and promptly moved to Truckee, CA to start a life in the mountains. He initially worked at Sierra Pet Clinic in Truckee, followed by the Ponderay Veterinary Service in Sand Point, ID. The mountains of the Sierra Nevada lured him back and he returned to Sierra Pet Clinic in 2005. Doctor Buckton and his wife, Lisa, opened Burton Creek Veterinary Clinic in Tahoe City, CA in 2008. In the hospital, Dr. Buckton’s interests lie in surgery, ultrasonography, general family practice medicine, and wildlife. When he isn’t practicing medicine and running the hospital, he is typically outdoors with his family camping, traveling, snowboarding, skiing, surfing, and skateboarding. His family also includes 2 boys, Rory and Kyler, Emma, a 5 year old Golden Retriever, and 2 Geckos (Crystal and Amber). Dr. Buckton loves to find time to keep up with his musical interest, playing saxophone and guitar. He plays saxophone with the legendary local band, Horsemouth.
